Products and Care Guide

Our BioThane® material is manufactured in the USA, it is a coated webbing which is ultra durable, waterproof, stink proof and features a variety of colours! For dogs who love to go on an adventure, Biothane is strong, durable and easy to maintain. We seal the ends of our leashes and collars to keep it waterproof.

Biothane can be easily cleaned with soapy water and a damp cloth or rubbing alcohol to remove dirt, avoid using harsh abrasive cleaning products. 
Always dry your gear to remove excess moisture before storing.

Biothane has a break strength of 453kg per inch of width, for 3/4″ the break strength is 340kg. Buckle pull strength, 90kg.

Biothane is not chew proof, any chew marks will create an indent on the webbing.
Biothane is not stain proof, any ink marks will not be removable.
Usage of insect repellent and topical flea/tick products may react with Biothane causing it to harden and crack overtime.

We have selected a range of colours for our solid brass trigger snaps on our leashes. 
We test all our trigger snaps, expect a smooth opening feel.

Our raw brass hardware appears gold in colour because of the composition of copper and zinc, so they are rust proof and highly durable. They can be used in salt water. However, brass will tarnish over time which is unavoidable, the layer of tarnish is produced by oxidation or other chemical reaction.

The tarnish can sometimes cause discolouration on lighter coloured biothane or on white fur, which can be mostly washed away with soap and water and using techniques below.

There are several techniques to help maintain your brass hardware:
– Clean with a soft microfibre cloth to avoid scratches.
– Wash with water after exposing to salt water or chlorine.
– Leave your gear indoors, away from the rain.
– Check your gear for signs of wear and tear.
– If tarnished, consider a brass cleaner or DIY brass polish such as a combination of lemon and baking soda.

Our black and rose gold hardware are plated with a solid brass base, plated hardware will generally wear over time revealing the base metal. We have chosen a brass base as overtime when the plated hardware wears off, it will reveal the underlying raw brass/gold colour. Other common plated hardware seen in the market with steel base will rust/corrode. 

Trigger snap maintenance
Overtime, when debris builds up in the trigger snap or swivel, it may cause it to stiffen. 
We recommend you regularly check and maintain your trigger snaps by washing with water and cleaning any debris buildup. You can also use an oil lubricant to maintain the smoothness of the trigger snap and swivel, we personally use Ashford spinning wheel oil.

There is no fool proof hardware. Be sure to do your own research to ensure you find the right style that suits you and your pets’ needs.

We currently offer 19mm (3/4″) wide Biothane® webbing in selected colours.

Our reversible dog bandana is versatile and super stylish, it features 2 design – usually a dark/light colour, and it comes with a snap clip. It can be worn flat as it is or best to wear it rolled up to feature the different design & stand out from the crowd!

All bandanas are handmade in our workshop. The fabric is 100% cotton, soft & comfy. Each bandana may have patterned variations (especially those with printed characters), they maybe on an angle but never upside down. Each bandana comes with a handmade logo design on the side.

We use heat transfer vinyl for our customisation.
On Biothane, you may notice a slight shine on the strap after customisation. 
We recommend selecting solid colours for biothane customisation; glitter, holographic and chrome colours may peel overtime.

Care instructions – Bandanas
✓For bandanas, gentle cold machine wash
✗Do not put bandanas in the dryer as heat causes the vinyl ‘glue’ to soften, which may cause the customisation to peel especially in glitter, holographic, and chrome colours.

Lifetime Guarantee and Repair Policy

We take pride in our gear against defects in materials and workmanship.
Our BioThane® products are handcrafted and made to order with quality materials, they are backed by our Lifetime Guarantee, which covers defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the product, or for as long as the product is owned by the original purchaser, whichever is shorter. Should any rivets, screws, buckles, or d-rings fail, we shall repair them at no charge. 

If a product has been damaged due to normal wear and tear, damage caused by your pet, natural breakdown of material, or any event beyond our control. We will provide a quote for the cost of repair/replacement. We will not complete any repairs prior to client authorisation. If repairs are not authorised, return shipping will be at the cost of the customer.

For all repair request, you must submit this form prior to mailing back your item. We will be in touch within 48 hours once your form has been submitted, please include photos of the damaged product.

Depending on the complexity of the repair, repairs may take up to 14 days from the date the product is received.

We will do the repair at no cost to the customer that are deemed to be due to defect in materials or workmanship. Cleaning service is not included in the item’s repair. We do understand that your item has likely been well-loved, we do kindly request that any items sent in for repair should be cleaned prior to shipping. 

We do ask you to cover the shipping cost to and from our workshop. All items should be mailed with a tracking number. We are not responsible for lost or damaged packages. Remember to include a slip of paper with your name and order number.

The Lifetime Guarantee does not cover normal wear and tear, damage caused by your pet, natural breakdown of material, or any event beyond our control. 

Normal wear and tear
General wear and tear over time due to normal use, such as scratches, colour changes and/or natural aging of material and hardware.

Damage caused by your pet
Items that have been chewed by your pet.
Items that are not fit for a particular size/breed.
Material that has ripped or hardware that is broken or bent due to undue stress, such as collar/leash used to tether a dog.

Damage caused by using any of our products to tether your pet to anything other than a person will not be covered under our guarantee. This includes undue stress that leads to bending our warping of the material and/or hardware.

Natural breakdown of material
BioThane® ages naturally over time, there maybe reduce material flexibility. Due to the coated webbing, a combination of various environmental factors such as sunlight, heat, cold, mud, water, and time will eventually reduce the flexibility of the material and perhaps lead to cracking.

The Hound Avenue is not to be held liable for any damages whatsoever, including but not limited to: defect in material or workmanship, misuse or improper use of products, accident or death regardless of the cause, negligent or faulty design. Each consumer is responsible for determining the suitability of products for their individual needs. The consumer accepts all responsibility by purchasing and/or using these products. Please always check your gear before use, whether made by us or anyone else. By ordering from us, you agree to our above stated terms.

All our products are handmade, depending on the product, it will take up to 14 days to process then shipped out from our workshop.

If you need to make any changes, please get in touch with us via email within an hour, and we will acknowledge your changes with a confirmation. Please be as specific as possible, as most products are made to order. Returns and Exchanges

Our products are unique pieces which are handcrafted individually, and not mass produced. They are made to order specifications, including material, size, colour, hardware finish, etc. Due to significant amount of customisation during the design process, we are unable to issue full refunds on any customised products.

You can return non-custom items in the original packing that have not been used or worn and in the same condition you received it within 5 days of receiving your product.

All shipping cost related to returns or exchanges of items are the responsibility of the customer. Shipping costs are non-refundable. We advise you to consider tracked shipping, we don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.
